Photos I Have Taken for My Magazine

These are the shots I have taken for my rock music magazine. I deicided to take a verity of shot lengths when taking my photos e.g. mid-shot, medium close up and long shot. I will not use all of these pictures because some of them are not appropriate for my magazine because they are badly framed or fuzzy. I believe that the long shots I have taken will work for my contents page. The mid shots I have taken will work for my magazine front cover. I posed the shots I wanted to use for my front cover because that is a convention seen on mgazine front covers. I have taken my double page spread pictures, thinking about what my magazines main feature story will be and also how I will get the image to span across two pages, for this reason I decided to have Chloe hold a clapboard as the feature story of my magazine is 'rock star becomes movie star'.

Response to Focus Group

Name & Colour Scheme

I have chosen to use Smashed as the title of my Music Magazine. I have decided this because of my decision to focus on the genre of rock for my magazine. Smashed works for the genre of rock as often on stage the artists will smash thier guitar and also the rock genre is often associated with fast music, which invloves guitarists smashing on their guitar. The title is easy to remember as it is only one word long and it will stick out from the other magazines on the market. The font I have chosen will also work with the name smashed.

For my colour scheme I have chosen to use the colours black, white and red. I have decided on this because I believe the colours fit well together. The colours black and red are very conventional of the rock genre and for this reason I believe they work well for my genre. The colours are sutable for both genders which will help as my target audience is also both genders. I have dicovered that these three colours will work well together through reasearch of other magazine covers.

Fonts

I have chosen the font Destroy Human for my magazine Masthead. I have decided on this font because to me it is a steriotypical font for a rock genre magazine. This follows the conventions of a rock magazine which will help to persuade my target market to buy the magazine. Also the effect of the font fits with the name I have chosen for my magazine 'smashed'.

Costume Mood Board

For my photo shoot I will be using these costume ideas as a basis of what costumes I will place my model in. Here are the three looks I will try and create:

1) Leather Jacket, Skinny Jeans, Eye Liner and studed boots. (Both)

2) Jean Jacket, short skirt, high amounts of Eye Liners and long boots. (Female)

3) Black T-Shirt under a Leather Jacket, Torn Skinny Jeans, Boots, Eye Liner. (Male)

The Brief

To design a front cover, contents and double page spread of a new music magazine. All images and text used must be original, a minimum of four images must be used.
